We know that our volunteers provide us with an enormous resource in helping us to support the local community. They bring a wealth of ability, knowledge, experience, and skills that complements everyone who works at the Centre.
Our activities where volunteers get involved!
A major achievement and success during 2021/22 was the establishment of a Youth Centre, in what had previously been a Surrey County Council Nursery, with open access for 11-19 year olds.
The Youth Centre provides a focal point for our youth to meet with access to trained youth workers who together develop a programme of activities and focussed topic work. They have provided holiday clubs for young people this summer together with the development of an alternative learning provision starting in the autumn term.
Other activities set up and supported by the centre include Health and Wellbeing activities. Currently we have fitness sessions for all ranging from family sessions on the local green space to chair based activities for those with more restricted mobility, all helping to support fitness and balance and sense of wellbeing. Cooking has also been a favourite activity with families where the centre hosts a slow cooker course for parents and children. These cooking programmes are to be extended in the autumn with sessions for all sectors of the community.
Working with others is of great importance to us, in the belief that in this way more can be achieved.
