Volunteering with us!

Volunteers have always been at the heart of the Hale Community and Youth Centre. They are involved in several aspects of the work we do. They do everything from governing the charity to making things happen!

A major achievement and success during 2021/22 was the establishment of a Youth Centre, in what had previously been a Surrey County Council Nursery, with open access for 11-19 year olds.

The Youth Centre today, provides a focal point for our youth to meet with access to trained youth workers who together develop a programme of activities and focussed topic work. They have provided holiday clubs for young people this summer together with the development of an alternative learning provision starting in the autumn term.

Other activities set up and supported by the centre include Health and Wellbeing activities. Currently we have fitness sessions for all ranging from family sessions on the local green space to chair based activities for those with more restricted mobility, all helping to support fitness and balance and sense of wellbeing. Cooking has also been a favourite activity with families where the centre hosts a slow cooker course for parents and children. These cooking programmes are to be extended in the autumn with sessions for all sectors of the community.

Working with others is of great importance to us, in the belief that in this way more can be achieved.
