This summer, something quietly magical unfolded across the South-East of England. In parks, on pavements, and through the doors of Hale Community Centre, Doorstep Duets returned for its fifth year —bringing world-class dance directly to the heart of our neighbourhood.
Originally launched in 2021 by New Adventures and Farnham Maltings as a creative response to social isolation, Doorstep Duets has grown into a cherished annual tradition. It’s more than just a performance - it's a moment of connection, a celebration of movement, and a reminder that art belongs everywhere, not just behind theatre doors.
A New Chapter: My Feet Don’t Quite Touch the Floor
This year’s tour introduced a brand-new short piece, My Feet Don’t Quite Touch the Floor, choreographed by the brilliant Shelby Williams. Inspired by themes of longing, lightness, and the spaces between, the piece was performed by New Adventures company dancers and shaped in close collaboration with artistic team Kerry Biggin and Etta Murfitt.
